Étape Connemara

Étape Connemara is a 150km cycling sportive which will take place on Sunday 21st August 2016. This is a chip-timed event on open roads in Connemara. The event is organised by Croí, the heart & stroke charity, with all proceeds going back to support the fight against heart disease and stroke in the West. Entry is limited to 500 riders and strictly on a first-come-first-served basis.

Route: The Étape Connemara will start and finish at Croí House in Newcastle, Galway. The riders will depart Croí House and head right along the Thomas Hynes Road. Riders will then join the main N59 and enter Connemara going through Moycullen, Oughterard and Maam Cross.

At Maam Cross the route will turn right and leads riders through the Maam valley. A right turn at the Maam T-junction leads riders to Cornamona, Clonbur, Finny and around Lough Na Fooey. The road meanders and there are some dangerous bends that riders need to take extreme caution. The loop around Joyces Country is completed when riders turn left onto R336 and return to the Maam Junction. Riders then return along the same road back through Maam Cross, Oughterard and Moycullen.

Riders will finish back at Croí House having completed 150km.
