Inishbofin Autumn Walking Weekend

Enjoy a weekend of walking amid stunning Atlantic coast scenery, crystal clear waters, green coast award winning beaches surrounded by rich natural, built and cultural heritage in the company of expert guides.

Friday 20th September
20.00 Registration at Community Centre. Participants can pick up walking passes. Tommy Burke will present a lecture on the history of Inishbofin. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available.

Saturday 21st September
6.30 Anthony McGeehan will lead an early morning walk looking at land birds and migrant birds of Inishbofin.
8.30 Breakfast will be served in The Beach Bar (included in walking pass)
11.00 Anthony McGeehan will lead a walk to the east of the island looking at birds of the coast and taking in the north east cliffs and their panorama.
14.30 Tommy Burke will lead a walk to Cromwell’s Castle followed by a ramble east through the townland of knock & ruined 18th c. village at The Poirtíns.
19.30 Tommy Burke will lead a dusk walk around the west quarter loop (please bring a torch for this walk)

Sunday 22nd September
Tommy Burke will lead a trip to Inishark island which was evacuated in 1960. There is a supplementary fee of €15 to cover ferry to Inishark. Trip is subject to weather conditions. Times to be confirmed
